Indeks di bursa Wall Street ditutup mix dalam kisaran sempit, di mana indeks Dow Jones ditutup menguat sedangkan indeks S&P500 dan Nasdaq Composite ditutup di teritori negatif. Chairman The Fed Jerome Powell menyatakan bahwa data ekonomi AS masih kuat dan inflasi belum terlihat menuju target The Fed, sehingga perlu waktu lebih lama bagi The Fed untuk mulai menurunkan suku bunga. Powell mengindikasikan bahwa kebijakan moneter The Fed masih akan sama seperti saat ini sampai lau inflasi mendekati target The Fed. Penguatan indeks Dow Jones dikontribusikan oleh beberapa emiten yang merilis laporan kinerja keuangan yang lebih baik dari estimasi. Sementara itu harga minyak mentah stabil di tengah AS mempersiapkan sanksi baru terhadap Iran. Harga emas juga stabil di tengah sentimen geopolitik dan indikasi The Fed akan mempertahankan suku bunga tinggi lebih lama dari perkiraan.

IHSG pada perdagangan Selasa 16 April 2024 ditutup melemah 1,67% pada level 7164. Saham sektor consumer noncyclical mengalami koreksi terbesar, sedangkan saham sektor basic materials membukukan penguatan terbesar. Investor asing mencatatkan net sell Rp2,478 triliun termasuk transaksi di pasar non reguler. Pada perdagangan hari ini IHSG diperkirakan bergerak pada kisaran support 7100/7045 dan resistance 7200/7250.
