Indeks di bursa Wall Street ditutup variatif dimana indeks Dow Jones dan S&P500 ditutup melemah, sedangkan Nasdaq Composite ditutup menguat. Sentimen negatif antara lain berasal dari kenaikan yield obligasi pemerintah AS dengan tenor 10 tahun dan penguatan dollar AS. Data penjualan ritel secara tak terduga mengalami kenaikan sebesar 0,7% mom pada bulan Agustus dari bulan Juli yang turun 1,8%, serta di atas estimasi pasar yang diperkirakan turun 0,8%. Data initial claims pekan lalu tercatat mengalami kenaikan dari 312 ribu menjadi 332 ribu. Sementara itu harga minyak mentah cenderung stabil setelah mengalami kenaikan sehari sebelumnya karena meredanya ancaman badai Nicholas terhadap produksi minyak mentah AS. Harga emas kembali mengalami koreksi karena meningkatnya data penjualan ritel mendorong potensi The Fed akan mempercepat melakukan tapering serta memicu penguatan dollar AS.
IHSG pada perdagangan Kamis 16 September 2021 ditutup melemah pada level 6109. Saham sektor teknologi mengalami koreksi terbesar. Investor asing net buy Rp375,35 miliar. Pada perdagangan hari ini IHSG diperkirakan bergerak pada kisaran support 6070/6050 dan resistance 6150/6180. Stock pick: TLKM, TBIG, AKRA, UNTR, MEDC, JSMR
