Indeks di bursa Wall Street kembali ditutup melemah akibat kenaikan yield obligasi yang memicu investor menjual saham-saham sektor teknologi. Koreksi indeks Dow Jones terutama dikontribusikan oleh pelemahan pada saham Caterpillar. Indeks sempat bergerak fluktuatif dua arah sepanjang perdagangan. Yield US-Treasury dengan tenor 10 tahun kembali naik pada level 1,9%, yang merupakan level tertinggi sejak Desember 2019. Investor bersiap akan potensi pengetatan kebijakan moneter The Fed yang lebih agresif dari perkiraan sebelumnya dalam upaya untuk meredam laju inflasi yang masih tinggi. Investor khawatir suku bunga yang tinggi dan kondisi keuangan yang ketat akan berdampak pada valuasi saham, terutama saham sektor teknologi yang telah mengalami kenaikan signifikan pada masa pandemi. Sementara itu dari earning season, dari 44 emiten dalam indeks S&P500 yang telah merilis laporan keuangan, sebesar 73% membukukan laba di atas estimasi. Harga minyak mentah sempat mengalami kenaikan karena pemadaman pipa dari Irak ke Turki meningkatkan kekhawatiran tentang prospek pasokan yang sudah ketat di tengah masalah geopolitik yang mengkhawatirkan di Rusia dan Uni Emirat Arab.
IHSG pada perdagangan Rabu 19 Januari 2022 ditutup melemah 0,33% pada level 6591. Saham sektor basic materials mengalami koreksi terbesar. Sedangkan saham sektor energi membukukan kenaikan terbesar. Investor asing net buy Rp213,5 miliar. Pada perdagangan hari ini IHSG diperkirakan bergerak pada kisaran support 6550/6530 dan resistance 6625/6670.
